Yesterday around noon, Dad came off of the ventilator. Doctors were unsure how well he would do, but we are happy to report that his vitals have stayed good and his blood oxygen level remains high. He seemed to sleep very well through the night.
We have had another frank discussion with the medical staff and they have told us that dad is as good as he will get. The things that are wrong with him, have been permanently lost as a result of the stroke. He will remain bedridden, paralyzed in his right side, blind in his right eye, unable to swallow or talk. While we appreciate everything the Tree of Knowledge has done for us, our trust remains in the Tree of Life. With God all things are possible.
Dad's life is very tenuous and our prayer is still that God would raise him up entirely or take him home in peace. We do not want, and neither would Dad, for him to remain as he is. We know that God sometimes take us down to the wire, and we feel we're at that point. Thank you for your continued prayers for Dad and all of us.

We can say we know what you are going through, for we have been through a similar situation and even know the medical terms you mention in your daily update.
ReplyDeleteAs a word of encouragement I want to tell you about a tremendous healing in my life.
I was born(1961)with a heart condition that was so rare my parents (who were not Christians) were told there is no cure and they did not know how I got it. It was also said that there was a "One In A MIlion" chance that I would survive.
I have had 3 open heart surgeries and the last one was in 1975 and that is when my heart condition was corrected.
In August I will be 48 years old and to this day I do not even have to take a vitamin!
I was also told I would probably not be able to have children, but in 1983 I gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl. While I was pregnant I did not have to take prenatal vitamins because my body was making enough on it's own, that is very rare, especially in someone with a past heart condition. I am now the grand mother of 2 and 1 is on the way.
I can say God heals and he cares, and ALL THINGS are possible with God.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
