The first step to weaning dad off the ventilator is to switch the machine to CPAP mode. That make the machine operate like a breathing machine used by sleep apnea patients. Essentially Dad does the breathing through the machine, instead of the machine breathing for him. On Thursday Dad did 3 hours in this mode, and on Friday he went for 6 hours. It looks like they're giving him a break for the weekend and will resume this process on Monday. It's also very likely that Dad will be moved out of ICU on Monday and will go to the newly added K-block. We'll keep you posted on this.
It certainly appears that Dad is aware of what has happened to him. The neurologist warned us that Dad may experience bouts of depression as he comes to terms with the situation. At the moment he appears to be more despondent and less willing to communicate. Along with this is the discomfort of being connected to tubes that take care of natural bodily functions, and IV's, and medications, etc. It breaks our hearts to see Dad like this, and again, our plea to God is raise him up or take him home - don't leave him in this condition. We are believing for a miracle and we know that God is more than able.

No matter what man says, our mighty God is still faithful to His promises.

Just want to let you know your dad and the family has been in our thoughts and prayers. I tried to post once before but for some reason it wasn't going through. We really feel for the family as this can be very draining but we sure appreciate your positive confessions. We know God is able!!!! Don't give up the fight and keep the faith!! It sounds like Bro. Vincent has been making some good steps of progress and we pray that continues even though I'm sure the mountain looks pretty big right now. Our prayers are with you!!! Bro. Darren, Sis. Mary Hatfield and family
ReplyDeleteJust trying again, Bro Franco.
ReplyDeleteAlthough according to outward appearances the situation is not looking good for your dad, yet according to faith, it is well! Abraham looked to the unseen for his inspiration, and that is where you must look too. The very name Vincent means conquering, and that is exactly what he is doing right now, even though it might not look like it. We don't know yet the mind of the Lord concerning your dad, but one thing is certain, that until Bro Vincent knows something to the contrary, he will go on fighting because he is an overcomer through and through. And so are you an overcomer, Franco, and your mum, and Vitty & Amy, and by God's Grace you're going to keep pressing the battle because that's what overcomers do best. The battle is not yours, anyway, but the Lord's. And He is Jehovah-Jireh too, the supplier of all of our needs. Amen.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
Lots of love.
