Those 2 hours came and went and I'm afraid my Dad's condition worsened. The area in the brain affected by the stroke (the brain stem) is damaged and swollen. The doctor has taken several steps to reduce the swelling so that other parts of the brain will not be damaged as well. Those steps include a ventilator and medication. In the process of ventilating dad, he vomited and aspirated food and gastric juices into his lungs, further complicating the situation. Now, in addition to the stroke complications, they are trying to prevent infection in the lungs. At the moment he is running a fever of about 102. This could be do to the stroke or an infection.
The doctors have been very honest with us and are preparing us for the worst. Still, we know and are sure that the God we serve is in control and is more than able to show Himself mighty on Dad's behalf. We know that we need a miracle.
We know that you all are standing with us in this time of desperation. Please pray especially for Mum who is so afraid of losing her lifelong sweetheart.
Thank you for all of your prayers, love, and offers of help. We have been simply overwhelmed by love from the Body of Christ.
I'll try to post more information when it is available, but sometimes it's just hard to find the time...

The doctor can give a bad report, and the enemy can tell us all kinds of lies, but we know what our God is capable of doing. Bro. Vincent is continually in our thoughts and prayers, and we are holding your family up also. May the Lord give you strength and peace. We love you.

We have been praying for your Dad throughout the day. We are really praying for that miracle to happen and for the Lord to also give your Mum and you, Vitti and Amy the strength to get through this. I can't imagine how it feels for your Mum, especially. Your dad is a very special person. We love his sweet, gentle manner and he is a fine example of a godly brother and gentleman. Please know that my mom (Sharon Rast) called me here (out of state) this morning to let me and my son know about Vincent's stroke. It is my understanding that the Neurologist treating him for the stroke is Dr. Ali Almudallal.
I want you to know that this is the doctor that I worked for when I lived in Lima,and he is a WONDERFUL and VERY SPECIAL man. I was so relieved to hear he was the Neurologist on call Friday and this weekend for neurology emergencies. While God is the Healer, and Dr. Almudallal is only human, he certainly is His Instrument...
I just wanted you to know something about the man who is doing everything humanly possible to help Vincent...I would trust Dr. Almudallal with anyone I love....
The doctor is originally from Iraq, and he will allow you to call him Dr. Ali (his first name) if you cannot pronounce his last name.
This man was a blessing to me when I worked for him, I have a special place for him in my heart, please know Vincent is in good hands.
Josh and I are praying for Vincent and the family...Vincent is especially loved by Josh...he touched my son's heart in a place that is very hard to reach...we are all here for you.

ReplyDeleteJohn and I were greatly concerned over the news of Bro. Vincent's stroke. As I'm sure you are seeing...Bro. Vincent has touched many of our lives and we all love him & Sis. Maria dearly. We will continually uphold him and you all in our prayers. Our God is an awesome God..He knows what He's doing even when we can't figure it out. We pray His preace and strength be ever present in the days ahead. We believe in a God of miracles!
